Yesterday my house had some unexpected visitors and it seems that they are here to stay for a couple of year most probably. Rodents, yes and a family of 5!
My sis took some newspaper to lie on a corner of the living room which I thought she was up to no good. Then I saw a cage, and I was damn surprised she would burden herself with “animal abuse”.
She took home a cage of 5 hamsters and I almost fainted. Not in fear of the cute little animals, but in fear of me carrying the responsibility to look after 5 lives.
I shouted “Animal Abuse ah!” as I always felt keeping animals in cage is seriously depriving them of freedom. Freedom to see the world and enjoy what life provides. Of course logically we can’t keep them without caging them, but I would rather watch them in videos, photos or otherwise.
I would never want to be caged. Would you imagine for the next 20-30 years, you will be living in a small room, walking just from left to right? Eating things that you might not want, but without choice?
If you have wings to fly, but were never allow to use it, how would you feel? Well, it is of course my personal view, and my apology to all pet owners, no offense. Personally, I won’t keep a pet, unless they can be reasoned, think, behave and act like human do… I think there is none =)
Good luck to my sister, and hope those 5 hamsters don’t hurt each other. Yesterday I have already heard plenty of bickering noises and this morning they separate themselves into warring factions. I wonder who the gang leader is and who the victim is.
